| The Grand Re-Opening and Anniversary Celebration take place from 11 am until 3 pm at the winery. This festive celebration marks the completion of the final phase of an extensive contemporary renovation of the site. A newly created stone walled path winds up the hillside dotted with Manzanita and other native plants. At the entrance to the venue, an Ipe wood deck gently wraps around the ancient oak in a free form leaf shape. In the Vineroom a rich wood graces the floor and huge French doors open out to the expansive tiered staircase leading to the Poetry Terrace, which has been transformed with a grove of crepe myrtle trees. The changes are elegant yet dramatic.
In honor of this special occasion, Paradise Ridge will release two tasty wines; the 2007 Brides Blush Rosé and the 2003 Ladi’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon perfectly paired with delicious nibbles. Enjoy “The Most Beautiful View in Sonoma County” from the winery’s expansive veranda. Exceptional Anniversary discounts will be offered on Paradise Ridge wines and gift items.
“Encore di Prelude” the 13th annual sculpture exhibition At Marijke’s Grove will anticipate the opening of the Green Music Center, which has been delayed for several years. Our idea is to present sculpture as a means to enhance the enjoyment of a day. To this end we hope to discover which art particularly pleases our visitors and why. We will be asking the patrons of our show to express their reaction to the individual sculptures.
Works have been selected by a group of sculptors and owner Walter Byck. Artists who have not previously shown work in the Sculpturegrove include; T Barny, Patricia Bengtson-Jones, M.C. Carolyn, Peter Crompton, Mary Fuller, Russell Herrman, David Mudgett, and Moto Ohtake. There will be new works of Edwin Hamilton, Kristina Lucas, Nick van Krijdt and Albert DiCruttalo. In a category labeled “Reprise,” a number of favorites from previous shows will return, including works of Bryan Tedrick, Albert Dicrutallo, John Pashilk, Gale Wagner, Michael Hayden, Riis Burwell, Bruce Johnson and Robert Ellison. A special reception with the artists in the Sculpturegrove will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.
