Culling the best from the Walla Walla Valley, Bergevin Lane has made a name for itself with the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, and its table red and white blends coining the term “Calico,” a delicious patchwork of grapes. These fine wines join the exceptional Italian courses of Il Fornaio’s Chef-Partner Franz Junga in an exquisite, four-course menu.
Begin with Spiedino di Salmone, grilled wild salmon skewer with Belgian endive and frisee salad with almond honey dressing and fresh peaches, paired with 2007 Calico White. Next, enjoy the Calzoncino di Mele, mini apple and brie calzone with crispy pancetta, accompanied by 2007 Viognier. Enjoy 2005 Calico Red with Polenta con Ragu di Cervo, soft gorgonzola polenta with venison and cherry ragu.
Finish with Bacce al Forno con Gelato, warm blackberry cobbler with gianduja gelato and 2006 Princess Syrah.
