Santa Clara Valley Wine-Mann Cellars Tasting

In 1978 Mike and Ruth Mann purchased a 20 acre prune orchard at the south end of Santa Clara Valley, east of Gilroy, with the intention of raising their children in the country and grow a few premium wine grapes. The first wine grapes were planted in 1982.

In1994 the first Merlot was harvested at their vineyard. Their customers included local wineries and home winemakers who were winning gold medals at major competitions with Mannstand Vineyard grapes. In 1996 the Mann family took the next step and produced their first commercial wine.
