Christopher Cameron Tasting Event
Meet Wine Maker "Chris Van Alyea"

About The Wine Maker: I fell in love with winemaking nine years ago when I produced a Sonoma County Chardonnay. No one keeled over or broke out in hives so I forged on and began making red wine. Along the way, I have worked for wineries in Sonoma County/San Diego County. I have received two wine certifications from the Sommelier Guild and started producing wine commercially in 2002. I am currently producing roughly 600 cases a year.
The Vineyards: Soil and climate are the most influential factors in great wine. Lambert Bridge Vineyard has gravelly creekside soil and a Bordeaux- like climate. Due to the porosity of the soil and great drainage the vine roots dig deeper in search of more minerals which bring complexity to this wine. As the old saying goes “the worse the soil the better the wine."
Our 2005 vintage is the very best. Hope to meet everyone at this fun tasting event!
Chris
The Wines:

Tasting Notes: This wine is a big Merlot in the mold of the 2004 but has even more concentrated flavors as it spent 27 months in French and American oak barrels. It has huge Blueberry and Cherry fruit with a touch of Anise. The oak is well integrated and adds complexity with flavors of vanilla and coconut. 175 Cases Produced
2003 Cabernet Sauvignon “Lambert Bridge Vineyard” Dry Creek Valley - Sonoma County
Tasting Notes: Aged 24 months in new French, Eastern European, and American oak barrels. This wine has layers of black currant, cedar, cherry, blueberry, and mint. It has backbone with moderate tannins and acidity. There is some coffee and dark chocolate in the long lingering finish. It is delicious now but could be cellared for 8-10 years.
