2007 Greenbank Farm Loganberry Festival offers family fun!

Music, food, wine tasting, arts and crafts fair, children's carnival and family fun are all part of the annual Loganberry Festival July 26 and 27at the Whidbey Island Greenbank Farm. Located in the middle of Whidbey Island, the free summer celebration is both Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 8 pm

Conductor of Fun Jim Freeman has lined up a schedule of fabulous music co-sponsored by Whidbey Island Bank and Whidbey Telecom. There will be intermittent breaks between acts for upside down corn on the cob eating as well as a children’s pie-eating contest — loganberry pie, of course!

This year's 2008 Loganberry Festival at the Greenbank Farm offers some of our most talented and delightful musicians from Whidbey Island and the surrounding neighborhoods of Anacortes and La Conner.

Saturday, July 26th

10:00 AM Opening the festival for their very first time will be the Whidbey Dixieland Jazz Band. Under the leadership of pianist Jerry Jones, these toe-tappin' fellows have helped raise more than $50,000 in scholarships for Whidbey Island student musicians.

11:00 AM Burl Ives, in speaking of Amy Hindman, described her voice as "so clear that she sounds like a piccolo." Hear for yourself as Amy sings her originals and classics. For a sneak preview, check out Amy's voice and talents at www.amyhindman.com

12 NOON brings the fun and frolic of our own Shifty Sailors who will be fresh from their tall ship tour in Boston, Massachusetss. Check out their photos and songs at www.shiftysailors.com. Who else would have the nerve to serenade our Olympia congressmen and women with sea shanties last April!

1:00 PM No Logy Fest is complete without the bluegrass sounds and fun of Swords into Plowshares. Every song, every note, every lyric, every smile. Their family fun feeling trio is as genuine and joyous as the music they share! Plow away!

2:00 PM A double feature treat strikes at this hour when country song stylist John Thompson (www.johnthompsoncountry.com) hits the stage. John will also be headlining at the Mountain Fest in British Columbia July 14th.

2:30 PM Metaphysical cowboy poet Marshall MacElveen will lure your eyes and ears into a comedic frenzy.

Closing out the day in dance hall style will be Dillinger's Clambake, one of the best dance bands to ever play the northwest. Area dancers come together anytime Dillinger''s performs! See for yourself when you check their web site at www.dillingersclambake.com.

Sunday, July 27th

The Loganberry Festival continues from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the historic Greenbank Farm.

11:00 AM Island favorites, Island Strings, celebrating over 25 years of youthful exuberance under the leadership of Linda Good, will perform. Do not miss these kids. Go to an earlier church service!

NOON until 1:00 PM The dynamic Janie Cribbs will share her soulful songs with guitarist extraordinaire Joe Reggiatore on the Loganberry Stage. Janie and Joe are no strangers to the world of pleasing audiences as is evidenced by their gig schedule at www.janiecribbs.com.

1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Get your dancing shoes on when Anacortes' Spoonshine blows away the crowd. Just ask loyal Logy vendors Jammin' Laura and Lopez Larry who saw Spoonshine www.spoonshine.com rock other festivals!

If that's not enough to keep you spinning, the world class percussion of Titambe Marimba will vibrate the hay bales for forty-five minutes. See their smiling faces at www.titambemarimba.com before you come see them live!

Finally, the hot sounds of Ken Pickard and his Zydeco Explosion will close the 2007 Loganberry Festival in style. Ken and his Cajun wizardry will keep the parking lots and dance spots filled at the farm!

The Whidbey Evangelical Free Church of Greenbank will again provide lots of special activities for children on the farm grounds both days. Tickets are a few cents to each carnival-like activity.

Wine makers from Whidbey and the greater Puget Sound area will be assembled under tent to talk about their wines. Wines will be available to taste and to purchase by the bottle or by the glass to enjoy with lunch. The Greenbank Farm’s favorite loganberry wine and its sister loganberry dessert wine will be poured by local volunteers. All proceeds from the wine tasting go to support the farm.

Lunch fare is provided by local vendors including Jan Gunn’s Whidbey Pies and ice cream, Karin Coleman’s sausage dogs with her Scandinavian mustards, the Central Whidbey Lions Club’s traditional American hot dogs, Craig and Debbie Vrungos’s kettle corn, Island Chef Tim Goeken’s chowder, crab cakes and seafood sauté, Nadya’s Greek cuisine by the wine tents, the Lariat Ladies from Lilliwaup barbecue, International beef, chicken and veggie wraps, African Samosas and more! Mike Diamanti will be serving espresso delights from his Island Coffee booth and we will again have shaved ice concoctions, as well as special Loganberry Ice Cream from Whidbey Island Ice Cream Company. Yum!

LOGY FEST 2008 will not be one to miss!! Mark your calendar July 26 and 27th!

WE'LL SEE YOU AT THE FARM!
