EVENT DETAILS:

Uncorking Oregon is a Portland based wine company focusing on education, excursions and events. “People love our classes”, shares Gretchen Wilcox, principal, “mainly because they are unique in their approach to providing information. We don’t lecture; instead, we entertain our students by including the people behind the wine so that students make the connection between Oregon and world-class wine”.

After a successful summer series at In Good Taste Cooking School in NW Portland, Gretchen has teamed with Kate Massey of North Star Ballroom to bring fun, convivial, and eco-minded wine classes to the inner Northeast. “Northeast is my home, and the North Star Ballroom is a gorgeous venue. It’s intimate, historic, and flooded with natural light-Perfect for a wine class focusing on world-class wine”.

As harvest nears, grapes begin to ripen, each one developing the varietal character of the region. In an effort to better understand the diversity of these regions, Uncorking Oregon is proud to present a five class series, with each class focusing on a different prominent region in Oregon. Take one or take all five: Course discount for those who enroll in the entire series.

Series Description

Thursday, August 21, 2008-Upper Willamette Valley

Thursday, August 28, 2008-Lower Willamette Valley

Thursday, September 4, 2008-Umpqua and Southern Oregon

Thursday, September 11, 2008-Rogue and Applegate Valley

Thursday, September 18, 2008-Hood River, Columbia Gorge/Valley, and the Dalles

All classes are from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with an alternative transportation “happy hour” from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Flash your transfer ticket or bike helmet, and you’re in).

Course Details

$45.00 per person per class. Includes four boutique Oregon wines, generously poured, along with gourmet vegetarian and vegan fare. $5.00 industry discount (with OLCC card) and a complimentary post-class glass of wine for all who attend the class utilizing bicycle or Tri-Met for transportation.

$195.00 per person for the entire series, for a savings of $30.00 per person.

This series is perfect for those who want to enhance their knowledge of Oregon Wines. It is also great for collectors, present and/or future, in that all wines tasted and consumed will be “winery exclusive” and not available for purchase in most retail stores. Students must be of legal drinking age in the state of Oregon. Heavy Appetizers (vegetarian and vegan) are included and will be served family style.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

It is our policy to cancel any class that fails to meet the minimum attendance guideline of 6 people per class. All monies paid in advance will be refunded. We cannot accept cancellations made within 7 days of class time as food and wine will already be procured and paid for based on class enrollment. Thank You for understanding.

Enroll today at www.uncorkingoregon.com or call 503.901.6939.
