2nd Annual Berks County Wine Trail Artisan Saturday
October 11, 2008 & Sunday October 12, 2008 - Noon to 5 PM both days!
Through a self-guided tour, visit each of the trail wineries for this 2nd annual local wine and local cheese pairing event!
TICKETS ON SALE NOW for the 2nd Annual Berks County Wine Trail's ARTISAN CHEESE & WINE TASTING EVENT WEEKEND. Since last year’s event, Berks County wineries heard the wine lovin' cry for "MORE CHEESE, PLEASE!" and brought back this fantastic celebration of local cheese and local wine! It’s going to be a fromage fiesta during the weekend of October 11 and 12, 2008.
From Noon to 5 PM each day, wine lovers and cheese fanatics, unite by enjoying a self-guided tour along the Berks County Wine Trail to sample award-winning local wines AND locally crafted cheeses. To facilitate enjoyment of such a gastronomic gala, tickets are on sale now at each participating Berks County Trail Winery: $10 per person if you purchase your ticket in advance; and $15 at the door the day of the event. ***
For this year’s event, each winery is reaching out to not only pair select wines from their lists, but each winery has cleverly sought out a unique maker of artisan cheeses from the region. If last year's list of wine and cheese pairings was mouth-watering, then get ready to “say, cheese!” – as this year, the wineries are outdoing themselves with even fresher ideas about local cheese & cheese making!
A sampling of the nearly THIRTY kinds of cheese to be featured at this Artisan Cheese event along with fantastic spectrum of what Berks County winemakers have to offer will be:
Chester Spring’s Birchrun Hill Farms cheese will be featured with select
wines from BLAIR VINEYARDS including a Blue cheese and a Gruyere-style cheese.
Sharp Provolone from Esh’s Cheese of Reading will be paired with CALVARESI WINERY’s Merlot, Gruyere Cheese partners with the winemaker’s Riesling,and a Port Wine Cheddar is an enjoyable companion to the winery’s unique red, Baco Noir.
Conebella Farms of Elverson goes all Colby! Paired with their noteworthy Shiro Plum Wine and Blue Ribbon Plum wine, KOGHILL WINERY will be classic Colby: iItalian seasoned Colby, and Jalapeno Colby cheeses.
Dove Song Dairy of Bernville in concert with LONG TROUT WINERY will "Squeeze the Cheese" with its Autumn Nights Goat Chevre, along with a Raw Goat Asiago cheese paired with the eclectic array of Long Trout wines!
Wholesome Dairy Farms of Yellow House will showcase select cheeses with the wines of MANATAWNY CREEK.
Klein Farms of Easton will be serving up three marvelously aged, unpasteurized cheeses with featured wines from PINNACLE RIDGE WINERY.

And this year's ARTISAN CHEESE AND WINE PAIRING EVENT WEEKEND is offering an ADDED BONUS for the wine & cheese foodie!
