This month we're going to try something new at our beer tasting. We'll be serving the finest Czech, German and European pilsners, and we'll be serving them blind. This style of beer is perfect for relaxing after yard work on a warm spring day. Citrus and floral notes, coming from a liberal use of hops, make it quite a thirst quencher. While they have many commonalities, Pilsners share a common ancestor from Bohemia. It was brewed in the city of Pilsen which is where it gets its name. The style was made official in the 1840's when the People's Brewery of Pilsen was created by the local brewers. We hope that tasting these blind will allow you to discern the subtle differences between the styles. Which one is grassier? Which one is more heavily hopped? Which one tastes like it may have been the inspiration behind a major American pale ale? Please RSVP to Wine Society at (978) 649-8993.
