1974 is considered by many as the best vintage California has ever produced and a bench mark year that put California Cabernet on the map as a world class wine. The growing conditions were absolutely perfect: a cool spring and a long cool summer, thus allowing the ideal development of intensely ripe fruit with balancing tannins and acidities. Nearly all the wines that were produced were wonderfully balanced, with the best still drinking beautifully. This will be a unique experience tasting these mature wines and seeing how great California wine can age, from a time when the seeds of an industry were still being planted. Wines include: Heitz Martha's Vineyard, Ridge Montebello, Sterling Reserve, BV Private Reserve, Mayacamas, Conn Creek Eisele, Geyser Peak, Inglenook Napa and A-16, Spring Mountain, and the legendary Gemello (you'll find out!)
