Celebrate Independence Day Italian Style: A Taste of Celebratory Sparklers
Italian Wine Merchants - 108 East 16th Street
Between Park Avenue South and Irving Place
Saturday, July 5, 1:00-3:00 PM, $50

Although an American holiday, we here at IWM have decided to celebrate Independence Day in style with this unique sparkling wine tasting. France's signature bubbly is undeniably the quintessence of sparkling wine, yet Italy offers unparalleled variety as well as remarkable quality in its festive line-up. This tasting is designed to introduce you to the principal pours that represent the Boot's sparkling persona. Our tour will include IWM's best-selling wine—Prosecco, a bubbly that's ideal in its refreshing simplicity and thus, the reigning aperitif of the party scene. From the Langhe Hills you will experience one of the finest Piemontese expressions of the metodo champenoise (Champagne method). Bruno Giacosa—one of Piemonte's foremost producers—produces an elegant Spumante Brut in Lombardia which will be on display as well. From the Slovenian border we will also feature Movia’s unique Puro which is bottled undisgorged requiring the yeast sediment plug to be removed under water prior to its being served.

• Sampling of regional cheeses and house-cured meats
• A “Taste of” six different regional wines
