Alsace Riesling has long been the darling of serious white wine collectors and Trimbach’s Clos Ste.-Hune & Cuvée Frédéric Émile are amongst its greatest expressions. The Trimbachs have owned the 1.3-hectare vineyard of Clos Ste.-Hune for over 200 years. This majestic vineyard is situated in the grand cru Rosacker. However, Clos Ste.-Hune is quite superior to its neighboring vineyards, so the Trimbachs choose not to use the grand cru classification on the label. The difference that sets Clos Ste.-Hune apart from other great Trimbach wines is its terroir, as all their wines are vinified the same way. The only other wine that could possibly touch the finesse, grace and style of Clos Ste.- Hune is also a wine from Trimbach called Cuvée Frédéric Émile. The secret to this great wine is its unique terroir, which comes from part of the great grand cru Osterberg that overlooks the Trimbach mansion. Cuvée Frédéric Émile has even outdone Clos Ste.-Hune in blind tastings on occasion. Its hallmarks are richness and roundness as opposed to Clos Ste.-Hune’s structure and austerity. Both wines have the incredible ability to age and develop into the most extraordinary and complex Rieslings, certainly on par with any of the greatest white wines on earth. You don’t want to miss this extraordinary evening of magical wines. Wines include: 2001, 2000, 1990, 1983 Cuvée Frédéric Émile; 2001, 2000, 1999, 1997, 1996, 1990 Clos Ste.-Hune; 1990 and 1989 Cuvée Frédéric Émile VT; and 1983 Cuvée Frédéric Émile SGN.
