Three Winds Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Languedoc, France (Crisp) - The long cool growing season in Languedoc lends itself perfectly to the production of crisp and delicate wines, and this Sauvignon Blanc is no exception. More in the style of a Loire Valley Sancerre, with its rapier sharp mineral laden nose and fresh citrus fruits on the palate, this is the perfect accompaniment to grilled fish, oysters, or just by itself!
Cliff Creek Merlot 2005, Southern Oregon (Mellow) – This little gem was originally intended to be only a blending wine for the Cliff Creek 2005 Claret. After fermentation, however, that all changed. Joe Dobbs, winemaker, decided it was just too good to be hidden away in a blend so he bottled it. Brimming with the essence of blackberries, herbs and coffee you will enjoy every last sip.
La Piazza Primitivo 2005, Apulia Italy (Bold) – The wine shows deep color with some mature hints. On the nose is dried plum with spice and cinnamon notes. On the palate: dark fruit, plum and dark cherry. Finish is dry with a hint of white pepper. Did you know that Primitive is know in the United States as Zinfandel?
Burford Brown Barbera 2005, Amador County, CA (Mellow) – This delicious Piedmont-style Barbera offers generous color and dense, but soft tannins. Its luscious, plumy fruit is framed by subtle toast flavors knit into the fruit. It is very succulent and provides the drinker with a sense of warmness. Try this one with an Osso Bucco or a rich Spaghetti Bolognese.
Deux Amis Zinfandel 2005, Sonomas County, CA (Bold) - Lush aromas of ripe mixed berries mingle with hints of black pepper and coffee. With a plush, velvety mouth feel, this Zin offers smooth, rich blackberry flavors. A creamy mocha and dark plum center appears mid-palate, bringing with it a touch of caramel. A hint of spicy black pepper sneaks in, gaining momentum toward the finish and building to a perfect crescendo of classic Zinfandel flavors.
