Witty, entertaining, and wine-smart—Robert Whale is back!—Friday, October 24, 7:00 p.m., Hilton Harrisburg. If you know Robert, you already know this will be a whale of an event (sorry-had to say it). We wanted to do something a bit different this time, so this event will focus on the cool growing regions of the Great Southern in Western Australia, and Tasmania. Says Robert, “Many people now think that Australian wine has a certain style; flavors that are big, bold, brassy, forward and full. This tasting will dispel the notion that ‘big’ is all we are capable of.”
For those who haven’t yet had the pleasure—Robert is a native of Australia, former teacher, gold prospector and restaurateur, who began his wine career in Washington, DC in 1979 moonlighting as wine steward at the Sheraton Carlton before pioneering DC’s first wine bar/bistro, Suzanne’s. Upon returning to Sydney, Robert, in 1984, formed New World Wines Pty. Ltd. to introduce the U.S. market to appellation specific, small to mid-sized, quality-oriented estates. Under Robert’s guidance, New World Wines successfully launched its own brand in the U.S., which you will recognize, under the label Rafferty’s Rules. Robert is President and founder of Robert Whale Selections, which evolved from New World Wines foundations and provides a full service marketing/sales organization supporting the many grower/vintner friends he’s developed over the years.
Don’t miss this Aussi-Awesome event!
