Have you ever wondered why there are so many variations of textures and tastes of cookies, even if they are the same type of cookie? Why do some cookies you bake turn out flat and others turn out fabulous? In this class, learn why this happens. We’ll be making thin and crispy cookies, thick and fluffy cookies and chewy cookies. Whatever style of cookie you like, you’ll be able to convert basic recipes you see in cookbooks to fit your style. Learn the differences between various baking ingredients and the role they play in the finished texture and taste of a cookie. We’ll experiment with using more or less baking soda, baking powder, use different types of flour & sugar, and learn how butter or shortening affects a recipe. Each student will be able to take home a mixed assortment of cookies they make, the way they like them. The class will be making Chocolate Chip Cookies, Peanut Butter Cookies and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies 3 ways: Crispy, Fluffy and Chewy.
