Eastern Connecticut Wine-New London Main Street's Spring Food Stroll

New London Main Street’s Spring Food Stroll on May 14th will feature a bounty of special offerings that make this event a great catch for anyone who purchases tickets. In addition to this spring’s Stroll featuring a record number of shops and restaurants, Strollers can enjoy samples of fresh seafood provided by a number of venues. Tony D’s will offer up his popular calamari, Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock will be serving samples of their clam chowder, and East Coast Catering will present “Nested Sea Scallops Rockefeller.” A variety of other types of cuisine brought across the oceans to our shores will also be ready to taste, from Asian Corn Fritters at Dev’s on Bank to Thai food at Bangkok City. Also not to be missed is the wine tasting in the Tuscan cellar of Thames River Wine & Spirits.

However, it’s not just the array of cuisine that will satisfy appetites. Salty flavored entertainment is planned throughout The District the evening of the Stroll to add to the event’s maritime theme, including Ida Red at the Hygienic Art Park, Finest Kind at Grampy’s Downtown Deli, The Ballad Boys at the Crocker House and the Ancient Mariners roaming the streets. Parade Plaza will be filled with excitement as well, as the CT Defenders’ show off the twenty-foot long General Dynamics submarine that recently debuted at Dodd Stadium, along with Keifer’s Kettle Corn and Chester’s BBQ. All Strollers will also receive buy one, get one free tickets to a CT Defenders’ game in their Stroll packets.

The Spring Food Stroll is sponsored by Citizen’s Bank, Pfizer, the City of New London, The Day, Cross Sound Ferry, Block Island Express and the Buscetto Family Fund.

Admission buttons are $25 in advance, $30 on Stroll day and include a free drink coupon. Buttons for full-time students and children are $15, but do not include a drink coupon. All Navy and Coast Guard personnel are $20 when id’s are presented at time of purchase. The new District Map & Guide and a Stroll Map showing the location of all participating shops and restaurants will be available in all venues on Stroll night.

Buttons may also be purchased at the Main Street office in the Atrium at Harris Place, 165 State Street, Monday through Friday, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm beginning April 15th. Buttons ordered by mail or on line can be picked up on May 14th at the hospitality table in front of the Atrium beginning at 5:00 pm. Buttons often sell out, so the public is advised to purchase in advance.
