Des Moines Wine-Independence Brew-B-Q

The Independence Brew-B-Q is truly unique to Independence! First, we host a barbecue contest sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society—America’s most respected barbecue organization. Second, and more importantly, we bring the ‘Brew’ to you with the opportunity to celebrate and taste World-class brews, the best in our Region, our Nation and our World in your very own Brew Tasting Garden.

If you’re only familiar with beverages that come from Milwaukee or St. Louis, the 2008 Brew Tasting on September 20 is the place you need to be. There will be so many brews available to sample at the Independence Brew-B-Q Brew Tasting that everything you thought you knew and liked about beer will change.

We have a very pleasant bike ride, Brew-B-Q & Bike Ride Too, over the rolling countryside of northwest Buchanan County from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For those who have come to our annual R.A.S.H. Ride in June you will be familiar with the route. Registration for the bike ride will get you a ticket for the Brew Tasting which begins at 3. Here again proceeds are donated to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters – Mentoring Program.

Entry to the Riverwalk Parks area is FREE.

Just like all events in Riverwalk Parks, no coolers, no alcohol, or pets will be allowed.
