A bottle of Champagne contains 58 million bubbles (give or take a few hundred thousand). Dom Pérignon did not invent Champagne. Each year, the Spanish cava house, Freixenet, produces fully one-third as much sparkling wine as the entire region of Champagne, France. Come learn more about sparkles and bubbles in this year end toast to fizzy wine. We’ll taste a dozen types of sparkling wine from around the globe, including Spanish cava, German sekt, Italian spumante and, of course, crémant and Champagne from France. We’ll also learn the best values in the bubbly and what kinds of foods best accompany them.
