This Intermediate course takes up where # 1 left off, the "basics" having been covered. It will focus on the more than 30 grape varieties which are distinct enough to produce interesting wines (offered every semester). $225.00 per person CLASS 1: Italy’s vinous background, wine laws and nomenclature plus an introduction to its most popular wines. CLASS 2: This session deals with the fruity and easy-drinking wines from Friuli, Trentino, Veneto and Lombardia. CLASS 3: We’ll cover central and southern Italy’s table wines as well as the country’s classic dry sparklers. CLASS 4: Toscana and Umbria— the great Sangiovese–based reds of Montalcino, Montepulciano, Chianti and Torgiano plus an understanding of Super Tuscan. CLASS 5: Piemonte – Barolo, Barbaresco, Gattinara, the Barberas and other extraordinary red wines.
