THE VARIETALS (An Intermediate Level Course) This Intermediate course takes up where # 1 left off, the "basics" having been covered. It will focus on the more than 30 grape varieties which are distinct enough to produce interesting wines (offered every semester). CLASS 1: "Light & Simple Whites"- Sauvignon/Fumé blanc, Sémillon, Melon, Cortese, Vernaccia and Viura. CLASS 2: "Perfumed & Gutsy Reds"- Pinot noir & Gamay plus Syrah, Petite Sirah, Nebbiolo, Grenache & Barbera. CLASS 3: "Fruity/Floral Whites"- White Riesling, Chenin blanc, Muscat, Gewürztraminer and Silvaner/Sylvaner. CLASS 4: "Clarety Reds"- Cabernet (Sauvignon & franc), Merlot, Zinfandel, Sangiovese and Tempranillo. CLASS 5: "Richer & Fuller Whites" - Chardonnay, Pinots blanc & gris, Aligoté, Viognier, Marsanne & Roussanne. There is lot parking.
