This week enjoy dinner at Lawry's Prime Rib:
"“There’s still something exciting about seeing them roll a cart up and carve off a caveman-size piece of prime rib” “with all the trimmings” (“love the spinning salad bowl” and the “good Yorkshire pudding”) for fans of this “old-school” Traditional American “meatery” in River North’s “historic”, “ornate” McCormick mansion; it’s “getting long in the tooth but is still a classic”, and while not everyone agrees it’s “worth the price”, the “delicious sandwiches” at lunch are certainly “a value.”" - Zagat.com
"This classic house of prime rib has slipped a bit, but we wish for improvements, because when it comes to prime rib no one does it better. And when the aged beef is sliced to order from the cart tableside, so sweet tasting, we forgive Lawry's its sins. Choose from four cuts of prime rib, accompanied by mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and whipped-cream horseradish. Of late, Lawry's is offering lobster tail as well, with or without the prime rib. Desserts include a chocolate bag filled with white chocolate mousse, and an old-fashioned chocolate cake that's tall, dark and a knockout." - Gayot.com |
