| In the words of The Burghound's Allen Meadows, 2005 is "one of the greatest vintages in the history of modern Burgundy". The Wine Advocate's vintage chart rates 2005 Cote de Nuits Reds and 2005 Cote de Beaune Reds 98T and 96T respectively, making it the highest rated Red Burgundy vintage on Parker's chart which goes back to 1970. Since the wines began to ship last year, our tastings have confirmed how brilliant this vintage is to the extent that even what you might call 'the little wines' from places like Marsannay, Savingy-les-Beaune, and Mercurey revealed the depth of ripeness and structure that characterize this vintage. This tasting is a rare opportunity to taste 10 of the big boys. Vincent Ehret, who may be the smartest and most passionate Burgundy expert I've tasted with, will lead the tasting which will focus on the big 5 communes of Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanee, Nuits St Georges, Volnay and Pommard. As is our custom, we will taste with Riedel stems and light snacks will be provided. Seating will be limited. You may reserve your tickets by calling the Bottle Shop at 847-256-7777 or buy them online here.
