Brian has hand picked the selections for the evening, and for those of you that have attended other tastings that he has conducted with us, you know the amount of knowledge and passion he has. So please join us for what promises to be a very informative and fun evening.
Wines that we will be tasting:
Caldora Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2006
Inky blackish-purple with a clear garnet edge. Good, full scent, black plums and subtle earth, a whiff of well-integrated oak. Fresh plums on the palate, nicely balanced by food-friendly acidity and soft tannins.
Renato Corino Barbera d'Alba 2005
This Barbera, colored a ruby red with garnet reflections, is suitable to drink throughout the course of a meal, and would pair particularly well with cheeses. Its typical nose is fine and fruity, with notes of blueberry and cherry. Quite warm in the mouth, it feels soft and fresh, with excellent balance and a strong finish.
Cusumano Benuara Nero d'Avola e Syrah 2006
This blend of Nero d'Avola and Syrah combines the most widely planted indigenous Sicilian red with the refinement of an international varietal. The end result is an unforgetable combination of a floral perfume, thick red and black fruit, medium to full-bodied structure, and a judicious amount of well integrated oak on the finish.
Moccagatta Bric Balin Barbaresco 2003
A red with lots of blackberry and cherry aromas and just a hint of cedar and dried flowers. Full-bodied, with a rich core of ripe fruit and silky tannins. Long finish with sweet fruit.
Anselmi I Capitelli 2005
