Our Tasting Room
Sat, March 1st 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Continuing on with Friday's theme we will be featuring wines from France that are just a bit off the beaten path. Leaving the likes of Bordeaux and Burgundy aside we will be tasting through a selection of wines that might not carry the prestige of the regions mentioned, but are just as rich in history, and present a far better value.
Wines that will be tasted:
Chateau de la Ragotiere Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2006
With a lovely nose of fresh apple, flowers, yeast, lemon, and salted nuts, Ragotiere’s 2006 Muscadet de Sevre et Maine Sur Lie fills the mouth with juicy apple and citrus and a vividly chalky sense of minerality that goes on to lend a serious cast to the still satisfyingly juicy finish.
Domaine Mardon Tres Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Quincy 2006
Quincy is similar to Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, with a racy acidity and mineral, gunflint aroma. The Vieilles Vignes is an exclusive bottling for Jeroboam Wines -- the Mardons allowed Daniel Johnnes to select this cuvée and bottle it unblended. It is made from 80 year old Sauvignon Blanc vines, the oldest on the estate. This wine transcends the appellation.
Clos des Fees Les Sorcieres Cotes-du-Rousillon 2005
Rich, robust and full-bodied with layers of plum, dark currant and raspberry flavors. Plenty of structure with a note of elegance that should emerge more with time in the cellar.
Domaine Le Couroulu Vacqueryas 2003
Loads of spice and plum aromas and flavors, with hints of tar and licorice. Rich in texture, but fresh and clean through the finish.
Coume del Mas Schistes 2003
This intense wine makes its presence known immediately. The aromas of black cherry, cranberry and spice burst in your mouth, stunning your taste buds, then smoothing out with fine tannins for a long deep finish.
