Believe it or not, the French standard is still applied to wine around the world. We speak and think in terms of four great styles: white and red Bordeaux, white and red Burgundy, and these are what we'll taste first. This paradigm lines up nicely with the four main wine grapes: sauvignon blanc, cabernet, chardonnay, and pinot noir. We'll taste great wines from France's most productive wine regions, from the lightest Alsatian pinot gris to delicious syrah/grenache blends from Languedoc. There's always bread, olives and olive oil at the beginning of class, and we end with a light supper of meat and cheese designed to match that day's wines.
