With more than 400 exceptional American wines, from Chardonnay to Zinfandel, entered in the 2007 competition, more than 500 wines are expected to be entered for judging this year. More than 300 wineries are invited to participate, and each winery may enter more than one variety of wine. A “dream team” of 22 judges, who possess top qualifications in wine knowledge, will judge the wines based on the criteria of the varietal, including character, depth, smell, taste and finish.

Guests who attend the AFWC Gala Dinners will have the opportunity to sample all the wines judged in the competition as well as enjoy an incredible wine-country inspired gourmet meal.
