TRIO Thursdays - Australian Wines
TRIO at Four Seasons Hotel Austin is pleased to introduce a new weekly event dedicated to the art of pairing delicious food and fine wines. Presented by "Texas' Best Sommelier" Mark Sayre, TRIO Thursdays invites food and wine lovers to explore a different varietal each week through the enjoyment of a specially selected flight of wine perfectly paired with tapas-style appetizers.
In this TRIO Thursday, Mark will take participants on a tour of Australian wines. The Australian wine industry is the fourth-largest exporter in the world, exporting over 400 million liters a year to a large international export market that includes "old world" wine-producing countries such as France, Italy and Spain. Until the late 1970s, Australian wine production consisted largely, but not exclusively, of sweet and fortified wines. Since then, Australia has rapidly become a world leader in both the quantity and quality of wines it produces, specializing in Shiraz (also called Syrah), Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sermillion, Sauvignon Blanc and Reisling.
TRIO Thursdays takes place every Thursday in the restaurant’s wine bar and tasting table area. Come at your leisure anytime between 5:30 and 10:00pm and enjoy the featured food and wine pairing for only $20 per person (or you may also order the wine flight and food pairing separately for $14 and $6 respectively).
