| 36th Annual Vintage Affaire
The biggest benefit on the Peninsula!
Saturday, July 19, 2008
Vintage Affaire 2008 takes place Saturday, July 19, 2008 in the gardens of a private estate in Los Altos Hills. It is one of the largest wine auctions in California and benefits Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Palo Alto. Over the past 25 years, Vintage Affaire has raised more than $5.5 million for the Center. These funds enable Vista Center clients to achieve their highest potential through programs that promote independence and improve the quality of life.
This year's Vintage Affaire is expected to raise in excess of $400,000 to benefit the agency. The event is organized by the nonprofit Vista Center Foundation Board of Directors and is staffed entirely by community volunteers.
The afternoon includes a silent auction with elegant wine tasting and hors d’oeuvre pairings, and a live auction followed by a sunset gourmet supper in the garden. The wine and hors d’oeuvre pairings will be prepared by local chefs, and will feature several of California’s top vintners.
The auctions include wine lots from hard-to-find California vintages, first-growth French Bordeaux, and emerging vineyards from “Down Under”. In addition, there are tours and tasting events at Napa and Sonoma vineyards, and wine country dinners in Napa and on the Peninsula.
Legendary wine auctioneer Fritz Hatton, a partner in Arietta and Kongsgaard Winery, returns to gavel the live auction. He will be assisted by Daniel Donahoe of Teira Wines. Music entertainment from Magnolia Jazz Band.
