| Norm and Traudl Huber's black Labrador, Charlotte ,passed away last year after a long and happy life with the Hubers. With a desire to not only memorialize Charlotte, but also to help other dogs find such a good life, Norman and Traudl Huber have crafted a special wine from their vineyard, called “Charlotte’s Reserve” and annually host a benefit tasting where they are joined by fellow animal-loving vintners.
This year, “Cheers for Charlotte!” will be held on October 19th, from 1:00 – 4:00, at the Huber Vineyard. The afternoon tasting will feature wines from:
Prodigal Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris from winemaker Steve Russell, previously a veterinarian
Chien Alsatian style wines from Don and Lindsay Schroeder, named for their canine companions
Flying Goat Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, named after winemaker Norm Yost’s pygmy goat “kids”
Nicolaysen Pinot Noir and “Brianna’s Vineyard” Syrah, named for Bob Nicolayson’s cat
Huber Cellars Estate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a preview of 2006 “Charlotte’s Reserve”
The wines will be accompanied by tasty appetizers, and 100% of ticket sales will benefit the Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society. Tickets are just $25.00 per person, and are tax deductible. To purchase tickets, call the Humane Society at (805) 688-8224 or visit the Huber Cellars website at www.HuberCellars.com |
